Endoinflamatoria Project:
imaging techniques on Inflammatory Bowel Disease h1>[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”1_2″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left”]Endoinflamatoria arises as a project for applying imaging techniques to routine clinical practice in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a view to integrating the clinical and diagnostic aspects within a common interactive visual setting.
As gastroenterologists, we have always favorably viewed the incorporation to inflammatory disease units of specific endoscopists of the Department – ideally those healthcare professionals in charge of the unit, or alternatively those with a special interest in the disease. Furthermore, and based on the development of new radiological techniques, it is necessary to adapt the latter to the clinical-endoscopic management of the disease and thus to integrate specialized radiologists within our units.
Endoinflamatoria illustrates this integral and multidisciplinary perspective in which the different resources and techniques are complemented by basic clinical practice with a view to guaranteeing the best therapeutic options.
In our unit we have compiled selections and series of images related to the different locations, phenotypes or complications of IBD, and present them in this project. We not only wish to offer an atlas of images but rather an “atlas of attitudes, interactions and utilities”. Accordingly, the endoscopic sequences of severe ulcerative colitis or stricturing Crohn’s disease interact with different complementary exploratory technical options, involving similar cases drawn from our clinical practice, or related to their evolutive behavior over time.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left”]IBD is undoubtedly a paradigm in gastroenterology. We want our great interest in inflammatory disease and endoscopy – which we feel to be inevitably linked – to appear clearly reflected in this dynamic tool. It is our commitment to renew the tool with new cases, further techniques, and future applications.
If our experience is of help to specialists familiarized with IBD or to residents in their training and dedication to patients afflicted by these problems for most of their lives, then the effort will have been worthwhile.
